Wichita man gets 12 years for recent robberies

He robbed a bank and a jewelry store

A Wichita man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for an armed robbery at a jewelry store and a bank robbery.

25-year-old Terence Thomas had pleaded guilty to one count of brandishing a firearm during a robbery at Kim Chee Jewelry at 2038 North Broadway.   The robbery happened in December, 2015.

In a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office, prosecutors said the owner drew a handgun during the robbery and the two men struggled. Thomas got the gun and forced the owner to open the door to the business.   He ran away when the owner's wife faked a heart attack and the owner locked him out of the business.

Thomas also pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery for a November, 2015 robbery at a Fidelity Bank at 3525 East Harry.
