Sedgwick County counselor resigns

Sedgwick County counselor Eric Yost has resigned, and county commissioners voted unanimously to accept the resignation during a special meeting Monday.

Yost was placed on paid administrative leave on November 7th, in the midst of tensions over an investigation into personnel matters and an FBI investigation of county commission members.  In an agreement with the county, he will receive over $77, 000 for salary and benefits to cover a six month period.

Commissioner Jim Howell called it a sad day in the county’s history.  He said Yost is an honorable man who has done great work for the county.

Retired assistant county counselor Mike Pepoon was named last week as an interim county counselor, and he will serve until the commission decides on a permanent replacement.
