Greenwood County officials say a woman has been arrested in Oklahoma in connection with the lost teenager found in November at a rest area near Beaumont, Kansas.
A 68-year-old woman has been arrested by officials in Rogers County, Oklahoma, and she is being held on a charge of child neglect. Charges have been filed in Greenwood County.
A 17-year-old boy was found on November 29th at the Beaumont rest area and he was taken to the Greenwood County sheriff’s office. Deputies said he appeared to be lost and he appeared to be autistic.
The Greenwood County sheriff’s office said in a press release that a joint investigation was conducted with Rogers County after the teen was identified, and it led to the arrest of a woman identified as Janie Gill. The Associated Press is reporting that Gill is the grandmother of the teen. The Greenwood County sheriff’s office has placed a hold on Gill until an arrest warrant can be served for aggravated endangering of a child and interference with a law enforcement officer.
