UPDATE: The Walkable Development Plan meeting for Tuesday has been canceled at Park Hill Elementary because of snowy weather.
The city of Derby is holding public open houses for its Walkable Development Plan on Wednesday.
Similar initiatives are moving forward in Maize and Goddard, where city leaders are working with their communities to make the cities friendlier to walking and cycling.
The city plans to use feedback from the public to reduce reliance on automobiles; promote “safe, enjoyable and convenient” transportation options; give sidewalk connections and amenities that promote all kinds of transportation; and find ways to reduce the number of vehicle trips.
An open house will be held at Derby Hills Elementary School (2230 N Woodlawn Blvd) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20.
