State and county authorities are investigating the death of a 38-year-old woman in northern Kansas. The woman’s husband was arrested later in Missouri.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Lori Shields was found dead in her home in Norton Sunday afternoon.
The KBI reported that police in Cape Girardeau, Missouri responded to a hotel Monday morning after receiving a call for help. The man in the room was hospitalized for injuries that the KBI said appeared to be self inflicted. 42-year-old Damien Shields was later released and then booked into jail on first degree murder charges.
Lori Shields was a secretary at Eisenhower Elementary School in Norton. Classes in the USD 211 district were called off Monday in response to her death.
