A report says the Towne West Square shopping mall in Wichita is for sale.
The mall was built in 1980 and it is now owned by the Ohio-based Washington Prime Group, which announced earlier this year that it would turn the mall over to Wells Fargo this summer in a foreclosure move, along with the West Ridge Mall in Topeka. A report in the Commercial Real Estate Direct web site said the mall has had financial troubles since Sears left three years ago.
The largest retailer at Towne West is Dick’s Sporting Goods, which takes up over ten percent of the retail space in the mall.
