Wichita Police say a 16-year-old student is in custody for bringing a gun to North High School.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday when USD 259 security received an anonymous tip. Security and a Wichita Police School Resource Officer investigated and the 16-year-old was arrested for possession of a firearm a a juvenile.
A handgun was also recovered. Police say the teen had not made any threats against students or faculty.
No one was hurt and there were no disruptions. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office once the investigation is finished.
