A Cowley County woman is hospitalized in Wichita in critical condition following an accident Sunday involving a large tractor mower.
The sheriff’s office says it happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of 307th Road, east of Atlanta. Crews from Atlanta and Burden Fire departments, and Winfield EMS responded to the scene and found 59-year-old Virginia Emmons undergoing CPR. She was taken by Eagle Med helicopter to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.
The sheriff’s office says the mower was being pulled from the mud using a chain attached to a pickup truck. During the attempt to free the mower, it flipped, and landed on top of Emmons who was briefly trapped underneath.
