15-year-old gang member arrested for south Wichita shooting

Wichita police say two shooting reports Wednesday afternoon were not related, but happened in the same area at the same time.

Police report an ongoing fight led to shots being fired from a car in the 3000 block of South Clifton. Officers were called to the area shortly after noon and found three people outside a home had been shot at. There were no injuries and no damage was found. A 22-year-old woman was identified as a suspect and found nearby, in the 4100 block of East Ross Parkway. She was arrested without incident and officers found a handgun. This woman is reportedly a felon and was not supposed to have a gun in the first place.

While officers were on Ross Parkway they heard more shots in the area. A caller to 911 reported a blue Dodge Dart that was involved in a drive-by. Officers quickly found the 15-year-old driver near Hydraulic and I-135 and arrested him without a fight. A handgun and shell casings were found in the car, along with weed and alcohol. Wichita police say this boy is a known gang member and also had warrants. A motive for this shooting is not known yet. There were no injuries or damage found in connection to this shooting.

Investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
