Four hurt in shooting at party in southeast Wichita

At least four people are hurt after a shooting at a party in southeast Wichita.

Police responded to reports of gunshots near Harry and Hillside, in the 1600 block of S George Washington Blvd, at around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Officers found three men, ages 20, 25 and 27, who had been shot. One of them refused medical treatment, and the other two were taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Later, a 19-year-old woman who had been shot in the leg and elbow went into St Joseph Hospital. She also had gunshot damage to her vehicle, and the woman’s injuries were not life threatening.

Police say they’ve encountered a “lack of cooperation during the investigation.” Investigators learned a party was being held at a business when a disturbance happened, and two people fired multiple shots. Officer Charley Davidson said the lack of cooperation is affecting the officers’ ability to thoroughly investigate.

The two suspects are descibed as “unknown black males.” One of the men was reportedly wearing red shorts and a red Nike shirt, and he had a silver handgun.

If you know anything about the shooting, you’re asked to call Wichita Police Detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
