Sedgwick County hosting drug take back

Sedgwick County is hosting a medicine take back event this weekend to make sure old medicines are properly disposed of.

These events help make sure old medicine is not misused or accidentally eaten by small kids or pets. Several collections sites will be open this Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies will be running three drop off locations, the Sedgwick County Zoo, Household Hazardous Waste Center, and the Oaklawn Activity Center.

The Wichita Police Department is hosting a drop off location at the Harry and Webb Dillons.

Derby is hosting a site at 229 North Baltimore, Maize at the Maize Police Department, Cheney at the Cheney Fire Station, Haysville at 200 West Grand, and Bel Aire at 7651 E. Central Park.

Depending on your location, flushing old medicine may be an option too. The FDA has more recommendations on the best disposal methods.
