Severe thunderstorms moved through south central Kansas late Tuesday afternoon with reports of a funnel cloud, heavy rains, flooding and large hail.

A tornado warning was issued for southwestern Reno County when spotters reported a funnel cloud, but there was no confirmed tornado and no reports of damage.

Other storms developed across Kingman and Sedgwick counties and brought heavy rains that caused street flooding.  Tennis-ball-sized hail was reported near 21st and Ridge Road, and there were reports of golf-ball sized hail in northeast Wichita and in the Andover area.

Flooding caused police to close westbound traffic on Kellogg Drive at Woodlawn for a time with three to four feet of water reported over the roadway.   There were reports of street flooding across Wichita and in the Andover area.  The storm moved east and brought large hail to the Leon area in eastern Reno County before moving into Greenwood and Elk counties.

Some accidents were reported in Wichita and emergency crews were also called to a few reports of stalled or partially submerged vehicles.
