A national safe driving program for teenagers will be in Wichita this weekend. The BRAKES program will have sessions Saturday and Sunday between 8 and 5 at Wichita State’s Hughes Complex.
Top Fuel drag racing champion Doug Herbert started the BRAKES (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) program to help teens with defensive driving. He’s working with the Kansas Highway Patrol and the state transportation department to offer the training. This is the first time the program has been offered in Wichita.
Registration for the free program is available through the website. Classes had just filled up at the time of this writing, but you can get on the waitlist.
