The man accused in a fatal shooting in east Wichita has been charged with first degree murder.  25-year-old Markeithan McClaine made his first appearance in Sedgwick County district court Wednesday.

McClaine is charged in the July 27th shooting death of 20-year-old Chancelor Williams of Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Williams was an airman at McConnell Air Force Base.  Two other airmen were injured in the shooting in the parking lot at the Horizons East apartment complex near Central and Rock Road.    Police said a disturbance broke out during a party at one of the apartments, and McClaine is accused of firing shots into a crowd of people.

McClaine is also charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder.  His bond was set at $500,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 15th.
