An El Dorado man is accused of making and distributing child pornography during a time that he was a registered sex offender.
Charges have been filed in federal court against 35-year-old Daniel Eric Merida. He is charged with producing, possessing and transporting child pornography, committing crimes against minors while registered as a sex offender, and sending obscene materials to a minor. The crimes are alleged to have occurred in Butler County at various times from 2014 to 2018.
Merida is facing jail time of five to 25 years and fines up to $250,000 if he is convicted on the charges.
