Icy roads led to a fatal crash Monday morning in Osage County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened around 8 a.m. on U.S. Highway 56 near Overbrooke in Osage County. A Dodge Ram pickup driven by a Overbrooke woman was westbound on the highway when she lost control on the ice and collided head on with an eastbound Ford Edge.
The Ford was then struck from behind by a third vehicle. The driver of the Ford Edge and a passenger, identified as 8-year-old Cassie Ralston of Scranton, Kansas, were taken to a Topeka hospital, where Ralston died of her injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck and her 14-year-old passenger were also transported to a Topeka hospital for treatment. The driver of the third vehicle was not hurt.
