No one seriously hurt following pair of house fires in south Wichita

No serious injuries have been reported following a pair of house fires in south Wichita.

Both fires broke out shortly before 11 a.m. Monday.  The first was reported around 10:45 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Seneca.

Firefighters had to shut down traffic on Seneca while they battled the fire.  They were also forced to exit the home and fight the fire defensively from outside due to the floor of the mobile home becoming unstable.

That fire was eventually brought under control.  Seneca has since been opened back up to traffic.

The second fire was reported around 10:50 a.m. near Harry and Waco.  Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the attic when they arrived to the fire in the 1400 block of South Waco.   The Red Cross was called to help three adults and a child who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.  Damage estimates have not been released.
