Wichita Baseball 2020 has announced that Wichita WindSurge will be the name of the Triple-A team that begins play next spring at a new baseball stadium.
The announcement was made at a special event Wednesday at The Wave in Old Town, with around 1,000 people in attendance.
The team has been known as the New Orleans Babycakes, and the new name will be in place when the team relocates to Wichita for a season that begins in April, 2020.
The new baseball stadium is still under construction at Maple and Sycamore near downtown Wichita and it’s expected to be finished in time for the new season to begin. It will have at least 10,000 seats and it will be used for a variety of sports and events.
