Board votes to continue with Kansas State Fair

The Kansas State Fair Board has decided in a split vote to move ahead with plans for this year’s State Fair in Hutchinson.

The board met Tuesday afternoon and heard from Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Lee Norman, who raised some concerns about holding the fair as scheduled because of the coronavirus.    The board voted 8 to 5 to keep the fair on the schedule.   The rabbit show was canceled and the board decided to make online and advance tickets $10, with tickets at the gate $12 for adults.

The fair will run September 11th through the 20th.  Fair officials are planning steps to protect the health and safety of visitors on the fairgrounds.
