The Walnut Valley Association has announced plans for a virtual Walnut Valley Festival this year, with a week of activities that will be held in conjunction with an online fundraising campaign.
The Association had earlier announced that the 49th annual Festival would be delayed until next year because of recommendations on mass gatherings with the coronavirus pandemic.
The online events for what will be called the Walnut Valley Festival 48.5 will be held on September 12th through the 20th. There will be workshops on September 12th and 13th for patrons who want to improve their musical skills, and on September 16th there will be a special evening concert with John McCurtcheon.
The funds that are raised during the online event will go to the lineup of entertainers who will be participating and to help pay for production costs for the virtual festival and the 49th Festival next year in Winfield.
