Celebrations of Life events are being planned to honor the late Lou Schwechheimer, majority owner of the Wichita Wind Surge baseball team, who died July 29th of complications related to COVID-19. Events are planned in Schwechheimer’s home state of Rhode Island as well as Wichita, and the dates will be announced later.
The family is in the process of setting up a foundation in Schwechheimer’s name, to benefit the youth in the communities he served, and more details will be announced at a later time. The Wind Surge said cards of condolences can be sent to Riverfront Stadium, 275 S. McLean Blvd, Wichita, KS 67213.
