Kansas corrections officials said Thursday that 43 residents of the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility have tested positive for COVID-19.
A staff member tested positive on August 8th and that led to testing for 262 residents. The residents who tested positive are all men, ranging from their 20s to their 60s, and they have been moved to the COVID-19 unit at the Larned Correctional Facility.
A mandatory mask order has been in effect since July 7th for staff and residents. More contact tracing will be conducted to find staff and residents who have been in direct contact with the residents who tested positive. The residents who tested negative will be placed in quarantine.
More testing will be conducted at the facility as corrections officials work to control the spread of the virus.
