Teens arrested for series of burglaries in Wichita

Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with a series of burglaries that targeted sporting goods and outdoor stores across Wichita.

Officers stopped a vehicle near Kellogg and Grove and took two 14-year-old boys into custody along with a 15-year-old boy.    The vehicle had been identified during the investigation of the burglaries.

A Dick’s Sporting Goods store in the 4600 block of West Kellogg was burglarized Tuesday morning.    The other burglaries happened early Thursday.  Items were taken from a Cabela’s store at K-96 and Greenwich Road, and from the Dick’s Sporting Goods on West Kellogg.   Officers found damage at a Dick’s Sporting Goods location at 21st and Rock Road, but no property was taken there.   Officers found teenagers breaking into Academy Sports and Outdoors near K-96 and Greenwich Road, but the teens fled and one of them pointed a gun at employees as they left.   No one was hurt and nothing was taken.

The teens were booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility for attempted aggravated burglary, theft, and burglary charges.
