Wichita Public Schools will again have fall sports this year, despite an earlier ruling to cancel all sport activities. The school board met Tuesday evening and approved a plan to reinstate sports on a 6-1 vote.
The plan says that students who participate in high or moderate risk sports will have to take classes on MySchoolRemote for the season and at least two weeks after.
High Risk Sports:
- Wrestling
- Football
- Competitive Cheer
- Dance
Moderate Risk:
- Basketball
- Volleyball
- Baseball
- Softball
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Swimming
- Track
All non-essential spectators will not be permitted at sporting events under the plan. Online streaming is encouraged.
All other sports that are considered low risk will be allowed to participate without any restrictions as long as they follow the guidelines of both the school board plan and the KSHSAA participation guidelines.
