Kansas governor Laura Kelly had a tour Thursday of the COMCARE of Sedgwick County Children’s Services facility in Wichita. She was talking with officials about the mental health impacts from the coronavirus pandemic, and ways that her administration can help local agencies in providing needed services.
The governor said the challenges from COVID-19 have resulted in more adults and children going to community mental health centers. She said the staff at COMCARE has been working with an increasing number of patients.
The governor said expanding Medicaid would increase funding for critical mental health services offered by agencies like COMCARE.
