The city of Wichita will be asking for input from citizens and businesses as a development plan is created for the future of downtown and the streets that serve the downtown area.
Planning director Scott Wadle said an online survey begins September 14th for a Wichita Downtown Streets Conceptual Plan. The city is working with Downtown Wichita on the project. There are also plans for a social media town hall later in the month.
Wadle said the plan will be aimed at meeting current and future needs. He said citizens have already expressed a desire to the city to make changes that would contribute to a more vibrant, safer and healthier downtown for residents, visitors and businesses. The input will help with the Project Downtown plan, and Wadle said it will build on successes with recent street projects on St. Francis, Waco and an upcoming project to improve Emporia Avenue.
There will also be a chance to make written comments in the lobby of the Century II Concert Hall, where concept designs are on display.
