The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting that injured two people, including a police officer, in Lyons Friday afternoon.
A 40-year-old man was taken into custody late in the day after a long standoff at a home in Lyons.
The KBI said an officer was called to a home on Arrowhead Drive in Lyons, and he was shot by a man who lived at the home. Two people witnessed the shooting and helped to get the officer away, then they drove him to a hospital. The officer was later transferred to a Wichita hospital, where he was in critical condition. Officers and deputies got to the scene and found a 56-year-old man outside the home, and he also had been shot. He was taken to a Wichita hospital in serious condition.
Officers surrounded the home and the man gave himself up shortly after 7 p.m. The KBI is continuing its investigation.
