Wichita school board members will have a special meeting Friday afternoon to talk about a response to increasing cases of COVID-19.
Cases of coronavirus have increased across the state, and the positive testing rate has been around 13 percent in Sedgwick County.
Board members are considering a plan to have all students K through 12 in online classes. Elementary students have been in the classroom and the board had recently approved a plan to begin in November to move middle school and high school students to a blend of online and in-person learning.
The special meeting was requested by the United Teachers of Wichita, the union representing teachers in USD-259. It begins at 4:30 p.m. at North High School.
