Campaigns end, now voters decide on state, federal races

Thousands of people have already voted in Sedgwick County and across Kansas, but thousands more are expected to turn out Tuesday when polls open for the November general election.

Sedgwick County voters will be casting ballots in the Presidential race, and they will decide the races for an open U.S. Senate seat in Kansas as well as the 4th District congressional race.   There will also be a number of legislative and judicial races on the ballot.

The county election office reports more than 135,000 people have voted in advance in Sedgwick County for the general election.  More than 96-thousand ballots have been mailed, and close to 67-thousand people voted in person at the advance voting locations.

The county election office is expecting a turnout of close to 80 percent.  The statewide turnout is expected to be around 70 percent.   Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 am to 7 pm for people who waited until election day.
