Police identified Adrian Zongker as the suspect in Thursday’s fatal shooting that occurred outside of a restaurant near Oliver and Wassall.

Wichita Police Captain Jason Stevens said that Zongker is a parolee and was formerly housed at the El Dorado Correctional Facility.

Stevens added that the incident began when the victim, now identified as 42 year old Oscar Acosta of Wichita asked Zongker to go outside when he was found trying to locate a missing item in the trash.

Zongker then emptied the trash on the ground outside, and subsequently shot Acosta when he returned to confront him.

Zongker then fled the scene on foot, but was found a short time later at Salome and Pawnee.

He is currently being held on charges of First Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office.
