Sedgwick County is wrapping up a program that has helped small businesses and non-profit agencies that have been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The county used federal coronavirus relief funds to establish a Safe Operating Grant Program, providing up to $5,000 to help with costs like rent, utilities, and personal protective equipment for safe reopening.
The county received 1,799 applications and offered grants to 72 percent of them. County officials said 41 percent of the approved applicants included self-reported historically underutilized businesses and minority and women-owned businesses.
