Sedgwick County preparing to give second COVID-19 vaccine doses

The Sedgwick County Health Department is now scheduling appointments for health care workers to get their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The county has provided or scheduled 9,900 first-dose vaccines to Healthcare Worker Associate Workers (HCAW) since December 23rd.   The county and local hospitals have provided a total of around 18,000 vaccinations to date.    That number does not include vaccinations provided through pharmacies to long-term care facilities.

The county said Tuesday that HCAW workers can schedule an appointment for their second dose by going to the county’s web site,  https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/vaccine-information/schedule-a-covid-19-vaccination/

Deputy County Manager Tim Kaufman told county commissioners Tuesday that the county received a shipment of second-dose vaccines last week.   The second doses will first go to EMS and Health Department workers who received their first doses in late December.

The HCAW workers will need to bring their immunization card with them to the appointment.
