Charges have been filed against a man and woman connected to an incident that left three Wichita police officers injured.
46-year-old James Hathorn is charged with burglary, theft, criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated weapons violations by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000. 43-year-old Tiffany Vulgamore is charged with burglary and theft, and her bond was set at $50,000. They are scheduled to be back in court on March 18th.
Police said Hathorn and Vulgamore were not at a home in the 1400 block of South St. Francis when three officers went inside on February 27th. A property owner noticed damage at the home and called officers to check on it. The officers suffered leg injuries when a loaded sawed-off shotgun went off. Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said the shotgun was left in a side pouch on a recliner, and it did not have a trigger guard, making it more dangerous. Ramsay said the gun or the chair was bumped, causing it to go off, and this was not a trap set for officers.
