Sedgwick County health officials have worked out an agreement with local pharmacies to begin providing the COVID-19 vaccine to law enforcement officers and public safety officials.    County manager Tom Stolz said Friday the health department will transfer vaccine doses to the pharmacies for delivery to the law enforcement community.

Stolz also said the county is setting up outreach clinics to get the vaccine to people who may not be able to get to the main vaccination site at the former downtown library in Wichita.    County health director Adrienne Byrne said a partnership with the Black Nurses Association will allow for partner clinics in targeted areas.

A clinic is planned Sunday, March 7th at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, and another clinic will be held Monday, March 8th at Spirit Aerosystems.  Appointments have been booked up for those clinics.  Another clinic is planned March 14th from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church at 1817 North Volutsia, and people can make appointments for that clinic.

Stolz said there are plans for more clinics around the county to allow people in neighborhoods to have a chance to get the vaccine.
