Wichita expands return to classrooms

More Wichita students can head back to classrooms next week, with all students able to go back five days a week after Spring Break.

In a unanimous vote Monday evening, Wichita’s Board of Education approved onsite learning five days a week starting March 29. Some students have already started to transition into back-to-classroom learning, and that will continue next week. The district’s 8th, 10th, and 11th graders can return to classrooms four days a week starting March 15. This model has students still using remote learning on Wednesdays.

Families who have chosen remote learning for their kids will not see any changes, and can keep using remote options. Elementary students have already made the transition to classrooms, so they won’t see any change either.

To promote social distancing, some class schedules may be adjusted based on enrollment.

More details on the district’s plans can be found below.
