Wichita man arrested for a recent series of burglaries

Police have arrested a 42-year-old Wichita man for a recent series of burglaries at local businesses.

The man was arrested Friday in the 3400 block of East Orchard.  He was booked into jail on 59 charges:  19 counts of burglary, two counts of aggravated burglary, ten counts of attempted burglary, 13 counts of theft, 13 counts of criminal damage to property, one count of criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said there have been a number of burglaries over the past couple of weeks targeting businesses in Wichita and the surrounding area.  Credit cards, cash, personal information, tools and electronics were taken in the burglaries.

Police recovered stolen property from the home on East Orchard, and they also found a rifle.   They said the suspect has previous felony convictions.

Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
