Wichita developer Jack DeBoer dies at 90

Longtime Wichita developer Jack DeBoer has died at the age of 90.

DeBoer designed and constructed the first Residence Inn in downtown Wichita in 1975 and built or franchised over 100 other properties.  He sold the Residence Inn Corporation to Marriott Hotels in 1987.   He was also involved in converting the former Keen Kutter building into the Hotel at Old Town, which opened in 1999.

DeBoer was a past president of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce and he was one of the founders of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Wichita State University.
