A mix of rain and snow began falling across the Wichita area Wednesday afternoon, and there were reports of slick driving conditions and accidents during the late afternoon rush period.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Marion and Chase counties, and the area extends into east central and northeast areas of the state. The National Weather Service said there could be accumulations of one to two inches of snow east of the Kansas Turnpike. The advisory will be in effect through 7 a.m. Thursday.
An accident was reported on I-135 at 125th Street North and law enforcement officers were reporting vehicles sliding off roadways at several locations.
