The Sedgwick County Health Department will begin vaccinating people in phases three and four of the county’s vaccination plan this week.

Phase 3 will include people with severe, pre-existing medical issues who are younger than 65. This includes cancer, kidney disease, heart conditions, CPOD, Type 2 diabetes, or Sickle Cell Disease.

This phase also includes a few fields that involve close interaction with others such as utility workers and logistics workers, water/wastewater workers, those who work in construction, bankers, brokers and lenders, IT workers, communications workers, apartment leasing staff, DoorDash, UberEats and GrubHub delivery drivers, real estate agents, and government employees.

Phase 4 will include those who are between the ages of 16 to 64 and with other medical risks such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, dementia, Type 1 diabetes and moderate to severe obesity.

County vaccine clinics are will be at the former Wichita library downtown at 223 S. Main, and the K-State Research Extension Office, near 21st North and Ridge Road. Both are open Monday through Saturday.
