Sedgwick County to resume use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Sedgwick County to resume use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Sedgwick County to resume use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

The Sedgwick County Health Department will resume the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine starting Tuesday.

The vaccine will be available by appointment, and it will be administered on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 6th.   People 18 and older can receive the J&J vaccine.

State and federal health officials suspended use of the vaccine on April 13th to look into reports of blood clots.  The Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration determined that the vaccine is safe and effective in preventing COVID-19, and the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

Appointments can be scheduled through Sedgwick County’s website at www.sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/schedule    If someone with a severe medical risk cannot go to a large vaccination clinic, they can call the health department at 620-1029, or schedule an appointment for the drive-through clinic at 777 East Waterman.
