Severe thunderstorms brought heavy rains and flooding to communities in north central Kansas Saturday night.   Rainfall amounts of 5 to 8 inches were reported across the area, and flood warnings were issued for Osborne, Russell, Lincoln, Ellsworth and Saline counties.

Water rescues were reported in Natoma, in Osborne County, with flooding from Paradise Creek.   KFDI’s weather partners at KWCH, Channel 12, reported rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches between Plainville and Paradise.

Emergency management in Paradise, in Russell County, reported that Main Street was impassable because of flooding, and evacuations were taking place. Water levels were still rising at midday, Sunday.

Rainfall amounts in south central Kansas were around 2 to 3 inches.   Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued late Saturday night for Sedgwick, Harvey and Butler counties with radar indicating possible quarter-sized hail.   The warnings expired or were canceled early and there were no official reports of large hail.   There was a report of nickel-sized hail in Derby and in Valley Center as the storms moved through Sedgwick County.

More rain and storms were in the forecast for Sunday with more on-and-off chances for rain in the next few days.
