Wichita police have two teenage boys in custody for a shooting that was reported Wednesday afternoon in a north side neighborhood.
Police were called to the area of 26th Street North and Park Place around 4 p.m. Wednesday, and they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and police said his injury was not life-threatening.
Investigators found that the boy was walking down a street when shots were fired at him from a passing car. Police found the car at a nearby home, and they took two boys, ages 15 and 16, into custody. The older suspect was booked into the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center on a charge of aggravated battery and criminal use of a weapon. The younger boy was booked for aggravated battery.
Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for a decision on charges in the case.
