UPDATE: Wichita police say they have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left a woman in critical condition.
Officers were called to an incident at 9:20 p.m Saturday at Douglas and Greenwood, just west of Hydraulic. They found a 26-year-old woman with critical injuries, and she was taken to a hospital. The woman had been crossing the street, leaving a business in the 100 block of South Greenwood, and she was hit by a northbound car that was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed. The car was later found unoccupied at a hotel at 36th Street North and Rock Road.
Officers contacted the 18-year-old suspect at the Patrol South police station later in the night, and he was arrested. He was booked into jail on a charge of aggravated battery and two counts of hit-and-run.
The investigation is continuing and information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office for the filing of charges.
