A 12-year-old girl is recovering after an accidental shooting Monday evening.
Wichita police report a 23-year-old man was watching two nieces and a nephew, ages 10 t0 13, at an apartment near 13th and West. While there, he was showing a handgun to an 18-year-old friend. The gun was fired at some point, hitting the 12-year-old, who was in another room.
Injuries to the girl are now being described as not life-threatening. An update from police says the girl was hit in the arm and shoulder.
The 23-year-old was arrested for aggravated battery, criminal use of weapons, and outstanding warrants.
