The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the awarding of American Rescue Plan funds for Emergency Housing Vouchers “EHVs) for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.

HUD is awarding the state of Kansas with $3.9 million to cover the cost of 375 vouchers and related administrative costs for an 18 month period.

Nationally, HUD is awarding $1.1 billion–or 70,000 vouchers–for 626 public housing authorities.

EHV funding provides communities with resources to assist families, as well as at-risk individuals fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking. EHVs help these groups find housing and remain stably housed long-term.
