Police took a man into custody Thursday afternoon after a standoff at an east side home. The man was wanted for three sexual assaults that were reported in the area of Kellogg and Rock Road.
Police were called to a report of assaults at the Towne East Square mall. A woman said she was assaulted while walking around the mall, and another victim reported being attacked inside the mall around the same time. A report then came in from a third victim who said she was sexually assaulted while unloading groceries from her car in a neighborhood near Eastern and Gilbert, southeast of the Kellogg and Rock Road intersection.
Officers chased a suspect but fell back when he said he had a gun. The man ran into a home and officers surrounded it. Negotiators talked the man into giving up late in the afternoon. Police were told that the man has had mental health issues.
