A Wichita area teenager has been given two years of probation for charges related to the shooting death of his mother at their home three years ago.
The teen appeared in Sedgwick County district court Friday. He had pleaded no contest in June to aggravated battery and criminal use of a weapon.
The boy was 14 when his mother, 41-year-old Lisa Trimmell, was shot during a disturbance at their home near Andover in June, 2018. Attorneys said the boy was defending his younger brother when the shooting took place.
