The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a fatal crash that happened near Viola early Wednesday afternoon.
The crash was reported around 1 p.m. at K-42 and 95th Street South. Troopers said 61-year-old Joseph Soza of Wichita was driving a westbound pickup that crossed the center line on K-42 and went into the path of an eastbound semi. The semi driver swerved to try to avoid the crash, but the pickup struck the left side of the sem
Soza was dead at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.
K-42 was closed to traffic for about four hours after the crash.
