The man involved in a south Wichita standoff on Thursday is facing charges of aggravated assault and one count of
aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer.
Police were called to a home near MacArthur and I-135 shortly before noon Thursday. A 50-year-old man had reportedly pointed a gun at someone and fire during a fight. Arriving officers found the armed man, who refused to drop the gun and went into his home.
Negotiators and SWAT were called, who worked for hours to try and get the man to surrender. He eventually came to the door, and officers used a less lethal option and police dog to take the man into custody. He was treated for minor injuries and has since been booked into jail.
