Storm damage reported in Augusta

A morning thunderstorm brought winds of 40 to 50 miles an hour to the Augusta area in Butler County on Wednesday, and damage was reported to trees, power poles and some structures.

A microburst from a thunderstorm was reported around 9 a.m. and Butler County Emergency Management Director Keri Korthals said there was substantial wind damage throughout Augusta.  There were tree limbs down, some trees knocked over, and one mobile home had roof damage.

Some power poles were tilted or brought down by the winds, and power outages were reported.   Evergy crews were working on scattered power outages in Augusta and El Dorado, with around 30 customers affected.    The right lane was closed on Highway 54 leading into Augusta because of downed power lines.

There were no reports of injuries.
